AMA Minnesota – The New Normal: Changes in Consumer Buying and Marketing Messages

Many people understand the pandemic through experiences of loss; the loss of a job, the death of a family member, or the restrictions on personal freedoms. What is getting lost in all this is that society is changing, too. The role of religion, the government, and even our neighbors are evolving. In his presentation, Dan Reilly will take us through how the pandemic is changing not only ourselves but our society and consumer behaviors. We’ll discuss what behaviors will stick and how marketers can adapt.
1. Identify the specific pattern pandemics follow.
2. Examine how an extreme and unexpected situation is transforming both consumer behaviors and business practices.
3. Discuss how marketers can mold their message through each stage of the pandemic to reach consumers.
4. Discuss which buying behaviors may stick and which may shift to pre-pandemic behaviors
