Social Media Breakfast MSP: Inside Business Podcasting (Panel)
October 25, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am
#SMBMSP – How modern companies are using podcasts to reach, engage and inform audiences
A recent story in the New York Times asked the question: Have we reached “peak podcast?” Of course, the article was mostly talking about podcasts recorded by individuals—not brands. According to recent reports, there are now more than 750,000 podcasts. But when you consider which shows are “active”, that number drops to around 200,000 podcasts. So we are actually pretty far from “peak podcast.” Another story in The Wall Street Journal recently claimed there were about 30 companies in the S&P 500 producing podcasts, so we also know more companies are experimenting with podcasts.
Local podcaster and independent social media consultant, Arik Hanson will moderate a panel featuring three brand-side communicators who are managing podcasts on behalf of their organizations. Kevin Hunt, corporate content and channels manager at General Mills; Monica Wiant, vice president-social media and brand marketing at US Bank; and Melissa Young, social media services manager at Hubbard Interactive, will share how they got their podcasts up-and-running as well as best practices, tips and other ideas they’ve gleaned along the way. If you’ve considered starting a podcast over the last year, you won’t want to miss this one!
