MN Marketing Staffing Update Q3 2011

The economy has been on a roller coaster in 2011. The only thing that is certain is continued uncertainty. There are however many bright spots in the Minneapolis and St. Paul metro.  According to the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, Minnesota is one of two states that is experiencing growth of over 1% in the past 3 months. On top of that the private sector continues to look for more talent.

In this economy IT skills are in very high demand. The Star Tribune reported an unemployment level around 2.5% for these skills. Celarity has seen the leverage shift in favor of candidates this year with IT and interactive backgrounds. Candidates are experiencing multiple job offers and jump positions fast when the salary and benefits are good.

Where has most of the hiring been in the past 3 months? Celarity has seen an increase in interactive positions such as…

  • Web Designers
  • Web Producers
  • Content Managers
  • Copywriters
  • Project Managers
  • and SEO Specialists

Most are contract positions, many of which are contract-to-hire. Marketing and Creative is one of the leading industries seeing this trend as well as IT and engineering. In fact, Minneapolis- St. Paul is in the top ten for contract work in Marketing and Creative in the nation according to Staffing Industry Analysts.

Finding top talent is growing exceptionally harder as skills are becoming more specific and demand is outpacing people’s ability to gain these skills. Celarity is seeing a large increase in clients requesting our services in finding the Right Talent and Right Fit because recruiting has been so difficult within this industry.
